Carers' Relief and Elderly Support Service (CRESS)

CRESS provides a one to one personalised sitting service to relieve those caring for an older person (over 55) with dementia or other mental health issues.

CRESS has been registered with the Care Quality Commission since it began in 2004. A recent inspection has awarded CRESS with a 'Good' rating.

Recent changes in the care sector have now given us the opportunity to provide our current service privately and to expand our service to include elderly people with mental health issues living alone.

We will visit you in your home to discuss your needs and will work with you to plan the best possible way for you to benefit from the CRESS service.

Our experienced team of care assistants follow a comprehensive training schedule of core training and regular updates as well as specialised training in the field of dementia care.

We pride ourselves on our person-centred care approach. Our care assistants work with individuals to build relationships, finding ways to communicate more easily and planning daily needs and preferences together.

The service we provide will usually be in your own home at a pre-arranged time. We cannot provide nursing care but we can offer:

  • Social activities and pastimes within the home setting
  • Help in the bathroom and personal care
  • Preparing or assisting with preparation of meals
  • Assistance with daily living tasks
  • Hair washing and skin care
  • Shopping for essentials
  • Accompanied shopping trips/outings
  • Transport and support with appointments
  • Support with introduction of Day Centres/Luncheon Clubs etc.
  • Monitoring medication

We can provide the CRESS service to people living in Mid Essex which includes:

  • Maldon and the Dengie
  • Chelmsford and surrounding areas
  • Braintree and Witham

CRESS is a not-for-profit organisation and our hourly rate will be competitive with other agencies.

New regulations will be in place from October 2010 for Social Care providers.
