NERIL
NERIL is the North Essex Resource and Information Line. This telephone service is a helpline for people in mental distress and their carers and operates 365 days per year from 4.00pm to 8.00am. A service that is unique.

This telephone support line is used by a variety of callers, some who may just want information to those who may be in a considerable state of distress. The friendly voice of a caring person can bring instant relief and can often prevent a worsening situation. Mid (Essex) Mind believes that nothing replaces the comfort of a 'listening ear'
We have a trained and devoted team who provide this service. We also have the distinction of being an accredited Helpline by the National Mental Health Lines Partnership. We handle nearly 20,000 calls each year with an increasing number of new callers.

An encompassing service for people who may be facing their first emotional difficulties and require one off support, to those who have developed long term mental health problems and may rely on the helpline as a means of support, particularly out of hours. One of the great strengths is that access is available 16 hours a day, right through the night when other services are generally not easily accessible.
